(ThePennyWatcher.com) – It’s an important question as we get older and figure out where we want to spend our time when we are done working.
Congrats if you have the flexibility to choose from some of the best states. Let’s see what states consistently rank at the top.
Florida
No surprise here. Florida is the sunshine state, and probably the all time #1 retirement destination. Not only are there beautiful beaches up and down the coast, there is also no state income tax.
Low taxes and affordability, can’t beat that. Also making it a huge target for those up there in years are the abundance of retirement communities.
But stay away from those gators!
Arizona
Also a sunshine state, but far too dry for many poeples taste. The desert is hated by some, and loved by some as well. Arizona’s stunning landscapes are truly remarkable, and there is no shortage of recreational activities designed to keep retirees active.
World-renowned retirement communities with luxurious amenities and social activities make this a great choice.
Arizona offers low property taxes and an affordable cost of living. The state has no estate or inheritance taxes. And these things are important for seniors looking to maximize their savings.
South Dakota?
This state is definitely on the underdog list. The popular rolling Black Hills make it an attractive choice. Again, no taxes against Social Security benefits and property taxes are very low.
Anyone who likes the small town charm feel, this is a good state to check out. You get the change of seasons, but you also have the best of both worlds.
May not be the best choice for beach goers!
Texas
The lonestar state continues to gain in population. Texas is an attractive retirement location, and it isn’t hard to see why.
Living costs are lower than many other states, and it provides some generally mild climate that many people enjoy.
You can do it all from hiking and exploring ti checking out coastal beaches.
Relax And Review
If you are picking a full time state to migrate to, then take your time and enjoy it while you can.
Or perhaps your looking for that next property where your only living there half of the time.
Whatever it is, you have some solid choices and we wish you the best of luck.
